Eating too little can sometimes make you fat
Many people don't know this but eating too little can sometimes make you fat.
I've worked with a lot of clients who didn't eat that much but somehow managed to put on weight.
And no, it wasn't because their metabolism was “broken”. It wasn't because their body magically entered “starvation mode” and started storing fat. And nor was it anything to do with a “hormone imbalance”.
It was, however, a few biscuits here and there.
Those ‘healthy’ protein bars, the caramel latte and pastry for breakfast, and the odd muffin or donut at work, that all accumulated across the course of the day, adding up to more calories than they would have eaten in two or three proper meals but which didn't leave them anywhere near as full.
That constant snacking on something ‘small’, ‘quick’ or ‘light’ will interrupt your plans to eat a proper, high protein, high fibre meal which leaves you fuller for longer, resulting in more snacking to fill the void.
If you want my advice, plan your meals and never start your day with a snack.
Whether it’s a couple of eggs with some toast in the morning, or a simple sandwich that you take with you to work, meal planning doesn't need to be complicated or stressful.
But walking headlong into each day with no idea of what you have for breakfast, lunch or dinner and then grabbing whatever is most convenient along the way, is one way you guarantee to be left with no idea how you gained the weight that you just can't seem to lose.
