• Personal training, nutrition and resilience coaching

If you want to be stronger, leaner and more confident, lose weight without restrictive dieting, and transform your mindset by building postive habits, I can help.

Be better than well®

To be better than well means working on your physical, nutritional, mental, spiritual and social fitness because whilst these things might feel distinct, they are all interconnected in many ways. Think of it like a virtuous, or vicious, circle:

In the virtuous circle, we feel happy and confident, and so we tend to make better choices in terms of our diet. Those choices have a positive impact on our physical health, which improves our mood, and encourages us to take more exercise. We feel good about ourselves, so we spend more time with friends and family.

In the vicious circle however, our mood is low, so we make poor choices in terms of what we eat. Those poor diet choices affect our physical health, which in turn effects our mood. We don’t feel good about ourselves, so we stop exercising or going out as much, so our relationships suffer.

  • Healthy Body

Regular exercise improves cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness, bone health, and sleep. The resilience you build up from increased physical activity also helps you better tolerate both physical and mental stress.

We’ll explore functional fitness, cardio, strength training, flexibility and mobility, as I work with you one-on-one to create a bespoke personal training plan built around you, your lifestyle and your goals.

  • Balanced Nutrition

When you eat a healthy diet specific to your needs, you’ll feel more energised, less fatigued, and have more focus and better judgement. A healthy diet also supports healing and your immune system, and improves your mood.

I’ll give you back control of your diet, by providing a personalised, sustainable nutrition plan with clear guidance and advice to help you improve your relationship with food long term.

  • Strong Mind

Just like waves in the sea, life is unpredictable and can throw us off balance. What sets us apart is our ability to withstand and adapt to these changes and challenges, rather than trying to resist or control them.

I’ll support you to build positive habits that strengthen you mentally, spiritually and socially, not just as tools for navigating tough times, but also as indispensable skills for everyday living.

  • “Martin has coached me past my highest expectations of myself. I am fitter than I have ever been and I've run further and faster than I thought I could. Most of all I am having fun doing it. Martin’s coaching has given me so much confidence and completely removed the cycles of guilt I previously had around food and exercise.”

  • “After a series of illnesses, I was diagnosed with viral fatigue, hypertension and severe acid reflux and told I’d be taking medication for the rest of my life. I’ve been working with Martin for just over a year now. My acid reflux has gone, and my blood pressure has almost normalised. I’ve also lost over a stone in weight. My GP told me all of this is a direct result of changes to my diet and exercise.”

    S. Gardner

  • “It really helped to talk through how I could change my habits instead of crash dieting and focus instead on longer-term lifestyle changes. My sleep patterns are much better and I've lost weight. I generally feel much better about my health and wellbeing and feel motivated to continue with the steps you recommended.”

    S. Anthony

  • “Martin is so easy to talk to and super knowledgeable. I’ve lost weight and feel stronger and fitter than I’ve done in years. I’m also sleeping better. I can’t recommend him enough.”

The myth of the body type classification

Based on the somatotype theory, everyone is an ectomorph, mesomorph or endomorph. A combination of several factors including DNA, ethnic heritage, lifestyle and exercise determine our body type, not a largely debunked theory.
